What is Hypnotherapy?
A hypnotherapist will help his clients to get into a hypnotic state or state of trance. During this state the client is sensible for positive suggestions that can help to change unwanted behaviour, habits or disturbing memories. The positive suggestions that people are given while hypnotized are referred to as “post hypnotic suggestions” because they are intended to take effect after the person emerges from the trance and is no longer under hypnosis. Hypnoses has been around for some time now and is primary known from stage hypnotists by the general public. Although based on the same principles, there is a difference between stage hypnotism and clinical hypnotherapy. Stage hypnotism is used for entertainment, for people to have a good time, while clinical hypnotherapy can actually help people to change their behaviour, or to get rid of a great range of problems. Clinical hypnotherapy is now globally recognized as a valid treatment by the global scientific community, see the footnotes 1,2 and 3 for sources and at this moment is being used as complete or substantial treatment by healthcare professionals in various countries. Hypnotherapy can be helpful for many common and uncommon problems like addictions, eating disorders, stress and anxiety, unwanted behaviour, traumatic experiences, low self-esteem.
